CO Poison Prevention According the the Enviornmental Protection Agency:
Carbon Monoxide Poisoning Prevention
Preventing Carbon Monoxide Poisoning (PDF)
(4 pp, 371K, About PDF)
Do you know that carbon monoxide (CO) is the most common cause of poisoning death in the United States? Approximately 500 deaths and 15,000 visits to the emergency room occur annually due to unintentional CO poisoning. Older adults over 65 years of age are especially vulnerable to unintentional CO poisoning due to their high frequency of pre-existing medical conditions. While CO alarms can save lives, less than one third of American homes have them installed.
What is Carbon Monoxide?
Carbon monoxide, or CO, is an odorless, colorless gas that can cause illness and death. CO is produced whenever any fuel such as natural gas, propane, gasoline, oil, kerosene, wood, or charcoal is burned. Devices that produce CO include cars, boats, gasoline engines, stoves and heating system...

Being a family owned business since 1967, we have grown into being more that ?the guys who fixes your furnace??or at least we hope we have. Being here this long means that we have made relationships and means that we have built a reputation. Over the years we have given back to the community that we have become a part of and done what we can to build a better Boise for ourselves and our neighbors. We wouldn?t be here without everyone else?s support so it only makes sense to be there when others need us.
Last week we were given the opportunity to participate in a little grunt work at the Homes for Our Troops building project. Without hesitation, one of our employees volunteered and was on site at the opening ceremony last Friday morning. It wasn?t a ton but it felt great to be contributing to the cause. This house is currently in construction for a soldier who lost three of his limbs in combat. This house will enable him to live more freely in his wheelc...

Call a professional: Each central air conditioning unit should be inspected, cleaned and tuned by a professional. A professional tune-up typically costs between $70 and $125.
Keep the filter clean: Clean and replace the air conditioner filter frequently (check the filter once a month). This is especially important during the summer when dust and allergens circulate. If the filter becomes clogged, your system will have to work harder to supply the same amount of cool air.
Made in the shade: Air conditioners with proper shading can be more efficient. Air in a shaded space is cooler than the surrounding air, meaning the A/C will have an easier time cooling the air.
Don?t take the heat: Don?t place lamps, TV sets, or other heat producing appliances near your thermostat. The thermostat senses the heat causing the air conditioner to run longer than necessary.
Dial for dollars: Remember that each degree you dial below 78 increases...

It's human nature to procrastinate and it's easy to push off even important things that make our lives run smoothly. None of us like taking our car into the shop, cleaning out the gutters, or seeing the dentist once a year, but they are necessary things that save time, money, and headache in the end. It is even harder to take care of chores that are "out of sight, out of mind" so to speak...such as your heating and cooling system. We are used to going to the wall and with the click of a thermostat, able to keep ourselves warm in the winter and cool in the summer, completely taking for granite that that button controls a very expensive and necessary part of one of the biggest monetary and personal investments we make in our lives, our home.
Last week, here in our office our own air conditioning would not work. We were so busy getting ready for the busy summer season that somehow we neglected to tune up our own unit! We all have such busy lives of get...

2. THE RULES HAVE CHANGED
As of July 1, 2003 all conventional 30, 40 and 50 gallon residential gas-fired water heaters must comply with new, stringent standards regarding Flammable Vapor Ignition Resistance. Taking some time up front to learn more about air conditioning and heating will save you time, frustration, and money when you choose a local company to repair or replace your HVAC system. When buying a new air conditioning and heating system, the contractor you select can affect on your satisfaction more than the brand of equipment you choose. Choosing a contractor when you have adequate time to do so systematically gives the best results?much better than picking one out of the phone book to respond to a heating or cooling emergency.
